Laura Marling: A Creature I Don’t Know

At the young age of 21 nu-folk songstress Laura Marling is already on to album number three. The only problem- beyond the opening track The Muse, A Creature I Don’t Know sounds identical to every other Marling song.

The Muse opens the album with an unexpected burst of jazz-like energy and dancing piano keys. But unfortunately listeners are soon lulled into a daze of undeniably great, but annoyingly repetitive folk music.

Three albums on and her songs are still shaded by stories of love lost and dark acoustic numbers, so you can’t help but wish that Marling would try something different.
